Family Literacy Program provides free programs for parents and caregivers with children under six years of age

We offer a variety of programs to meet the needs of families in Hanna and surrounding communities. By participating in our Family Literacy Program:
• Children build important literacy and numeracy skills through stories, music, reading and playing
• Parents and caregivers learn tools and strategies to support their children’s learning in everyday activities
• Parents and caregivers are encouraged to engage in their children’s learning
• Children and parents get to spend time with other families

Books for Babies– This free four week program is a wonderful bonding opportunity for you and your baby aged 0-12 months! You will learn fun ideas for developing your baby’s early language skills.

Books Alive– Bringing books alive through crafts, rhymes, songs and games. All families with children ages 0 to six years are welcome to attend this free program.

Ready to Learn– Are you looking for new, fun ways to help your child learn? Ready to Learn is a kindergarten readiness program providing parents with ideas on how to help their children with printing, reading, numeracy, and other kindergarten skills. For parents and children ages two to five years.

1, 2, 3 Cook with Me– Cook up a story with us as we sing, read, mix, and measure during this interactive six-week program. Each week parents and their little chefs will work together to cook something delicious to share. All families with little chefs ages three to six years are welcome to attend.

Resource Centre– The Hanna Literacy Program has several easy reading books, books on tape, children’s books, tutor aides, and parent resources that can be signed out free of charge.
